Getting started with Eventbrite Payment Processing

Updated: Jul 09, 2014

  • If you're running a paid event, Eventbrite Payment Processing is the standard method for accepting payments online. You can change your payment processor up until you sell your first ticket, and you can change who pays the fees (you or your attendees) at any point.

What Eventbrite Payment Processing Costs

For events in U.S. dollars, Eventbrite Payment Processing is 3% of your ticket price (non-USD events using Eventbrite Payment Processing are charged 3.5%).

This is in addition to the Eventbrite service fee (2.5% plus $0.99 per ticket sold for events in USD—service fees vary by country), which you'll pay regardless of which payment processor you pick. By default, fees are passed on to your attendees.

When and How You'll Be Paid

Payouts (with fees automatically deducted) are issued 5 business days after the end of an event, and the fastest way to get paid is to set up direct deposit payouts. Payouts are only issued in the currency you collected payment in, and checks can only be issued for U.S. events.

Once initiated, direct deposits typically show up in your account within 5 business days in the U.S. (up to 7 business days outside the U.S.), depending on the bank.

Example Payout Schedule

With a week that starts on Sunday, the above letters correspond to:

- A: Day your event ends.

- B: Date of payment—when we initiated your direct deposit or send your check (U.S. only).

- C: Day by which U.S. funds should be received.

- D: Day by which non-U.S. bank transfers should be received.

Handling Refunds with Eventbrite Payment Processing

Using Eventbrite Payment Processing makes handling refunds easier, and any fees associated with a fully refunded order will be returned. Just make sure to process refunds within 4 days of the end of your event so that the payout we issue to you on the fifth business day is accurate.

Other Payment Processing Options

With Eventbrite Payment Processing, organizers can accept online payment from most major credit and debit cards—and events in Germany or Austria and The Netherlands can also accept SOFORT and iDEAL, respectively.

And while Eventbrite Payment Processing is the default option (and in most cases the most cost efficient and smoothest experience), you can also use:

- PayPal (currently the only payment processor for Italy and Portugal)

- Authorize.net (U.S. only)
