Tip: For a smoother and more reliable payment processing experience for your attendees--as well as for you, the organizer--we highly recommend choosing our standard credit card processing for your events.
After an attendee arrives at your event page, they select the quantity of their desired ticket type(s) and press Check out with PayPal.
Note: You must have a Business account with PayPal in order to accept credit or debit card payments from attendees. Learn more about upgrading your Personal PayPal account here.
On the next page, the attendee sees a summary of the quantity and type(s) of tickets they have selected. If you have opted to collect custom information from your attendees, the attendee then fills in their information and clicks the Check out with PayPal button.
Note: If the event is only set to collect basic infomration from the attendee e.g. name and email, then the attendee is taken directly to PayPal to pay.
The attendee is then taken to the PayPal checkout page on PayPal's site, where they have two options:
1. To pay with a PayPal account, they enter their PayPal account email address and password and click Log In to continue.
2. To pay with a credit or debit card, they click the Don’t have a PayPal account? link to continue.
If the attendee has chosen to pay with a debit or credit card, they enter their credit card and billing information on the next screen, and then click Review and Continue at the bottom of the page.
After reviewing their payment information on the next page, the attendee clicks the Pay Now button to finish the order and submit their payment.
After successfully submitting their payment, the attendee will be taken to a PayPal order confirmation page. On this page, they click the Return to Eventbrite to Complete Your Registration button to go to the Eventbrite order confirmation page.
PayPal will email the attendee a receipt of payment similar to the receipt below. This receipt is confirmation that payment has gone through, and is in addition to the Eventbrite order confirmation email that is sent to the attendee upon successful payment.
If the attendee does not receive an order confirmation email from PayPal and doesn't also end up on the PayPal confirmation page that says “Thank you for your order,” they have not completed all of the necessary steps to submit payment.
